Transit Systems ANZAC Day tribute at Tempe Depot

COMMEMORATIVE SERVICE AND SPECIAL BUS HONOURS THOSE WHO SERVED AND SACRIFICED

Transit Systems will mark ANZAC Day this year with a commemorative service and specially wrapped bus unveiled at its Tempe Bus Depot, bringing together employees, veterans and the local community to honour Australians who have served.

The service will be held at 7:00am on Saturday, 25 April 2026 at the Tempe Bus Depot, providing a moment of reflection to recognise the courage, sacrifice and enduring legacy of those who have served.

The initiative follows feedback from the Transit Systems team, who identified in an internal survey that recognising ANZAC Day is a meaningful way to connect with the organisation’s values. In response, Transit Systems has supported the delivery of a dedicated ANZAC tribute wrapped bus and planned a local dawn service to mark the date.

The specially designed bus will be unveiled as part of the service, paying tribute to past and present defence personnel and serving as a moving reminder of the significance of ANZAC Day across the communities Transit Systems serves.

The Tempe site itself holds historical significance, having originally operated as a tram depot before evolving into a modern bus facility. Its role in connecting communities over generations makes it a fitting location to honour a day grounded in service and shared history.

The service will be attended by invited guests, including local Members of Parliament, community leaders and representatives from the veteran community, and is open to neighbours and the members of the public.

Transit Systems NSW Managing Director Rino Matarazzo said ANZAC Day holds deep significance across the organisation and the broader community.

“This bus has been arranged as a mark of respect for all those who have served, past and present, and as a reminder of the strong connection between public transport, community service, and the values we honour on ANZAC Day.

“The pride in community service — showing up every day, supporting people, and helping keep communities safe — is an ethos we value. ANZAC Day is a powerful reminder of service in its highest form, and a moment for all of us to reflect on how we contribute in our own way.”

Mr Matarazzo said listening to the feedback from the team and designing a commemorative bus reflects the organisation’s commitment to its team, recognising service personnel and strengthening community connection.

“Having the ANZAC Day bus present at our ceremony is a meaningful way to acknowledge that history and to pay tribute to those who served so we may live and work in safety,” he said.

Mr Matarazzo thanked the team for their feedback, and those who arranged the ANZAC Day bus and dawn service.

A light breakfast will be served following the service.

Lest we forget.
