Driving Inclusion Forward

On 19 February, Nic Seaton (Training Manager) and Phil Gilbert (People & Culture Manager) proudly represented Torrens Transit at a reception held at Parliament House for the Multicultural South Australia – Ambassador Program.

The event was hosted by Zoe Bettison, Minister for Multicultural Affairs, who thanked Torrens Transit and nine other organisations for completing the 2025 program and welcomed representatives joining the 2026 intake.

Torrens Transit is the only South Australian passenger service provider to participate in this program and has made strong progress across all key principles — particularly in cultural awareness and competency. Training modules have been developed and are now being rolled out through the Transit Academy, alongside ongoing work to embed more inclusive practices into everyday operations.

In representation, our Multicultural Employment Pathways Program commenced in November, with three bus operators already appointed through this initiative — and more to follow. Recruitment and cultural confidence training has also been completed for Transit Academy staff and workplace driver buddies.

We are progressing reviews of our policies and frameworks to ensure alignment with mutual respect, fairness, and freedom from discrimination. Updates and training frameworks will soon be rolled out, including a cultural reset of COMPASS to ensure our values are consistently lived across every depot, every role, and every shift.

Actions supporting cultural expression and equitable access — such as internal event calendars and customer accessibility initiatives — are also being integrated into business as usual.

Our focus now is on completing the remaining actions, measuring outcomes, and ensuring these initiatives are sustainably embedded across Torrens Transit.
