Driving community safety with Crime Stoppers SA

TORRENS TRANSIT RENEWS PARTNERSHIP WITH CRIME STOPPERS SA.

Torrens Transit has renewed a partnership with Crime Stoppers in South Australia, which over the last three years has seen the Crime Stoppers SA logo and contact details appearing on more than 800 buses operating in the Adelaide public transport network.

Andrew Jenkinson, Managing Director of Torrens Transit, said the ongoing partnership had proven valuable to both the community and team members.

“Our hope for our partnership with Crime Stoppers was to raise awareness amongst passengers about how they can help create a safer community.

“We are proud of the partnership and believe it has actively contributed to the ongoing safety of our community and public transport network by both discouraging antisocial behaviour and by encouraging community members to be aware and share any relevant insights they have.

“Any crime solved with information from the public is a win for the community,” he said.

Mr Jenkinson also said the initiative demonstrates their commitment to a safer workplace for drivers.

“Representing over 1300 drivers, we are committed to providing a safe workplace, and we believe that by partnering with Crime Stoppers, we are actively working together to ensure a safer environment for all, not just on public transport, but in the broader community,” he said.

Crime Stoppers South Australia CEO, Nigel Smart, said an average of 25 crimes are solved each and every week by police in South Australia, thanks to information from the community.

“Crime Stoppers provides everyone opportunity to anonymously share information about unsolved crimes and suspicious activity – with research showing that 81% of Australians believe the option to remain anonymous is incredibly important,” Mr Smart said.
