Swan Transit has established a Business Management System that incorporates the both the Safety and Quality requirements of AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000 and AS/NZS 4801:2001. Senior management reviews the overall effectiveness of Business Management System and progress towards achieving targets and objectives at regular review meetings.

The overall responsibility for implementing this policy within Swan Transit rests with the Director of Finance and Operations who is the nominated Responsible Officer.
The Support Services Manager has the responsibility of co-ordinating the activities in relation to the effective implementation and monitoring of this policy.
The Area Manager's are responsible for ensuring that the required activities and procedures to effectively implement this policy at the depot level are undertaken and the required resources are available.
Employees are responsible for ensuring that the required tasks are completed with due regard to their own safety and the safety of others and actively participating in the implementation and maintenance of safety policies and programs.
Swan Transit is committed to provide the time and resources required to establish, implement and monitor the safety system.
This policy shall be kept under continuous review by Swan Transit and its employees through a consultative process, and shall be formally reviewed at least every two years and will be available to all appropriate interested parties.
Safety Management System
It is Swan Transit's policy to implement and maintain a safety system, which conforms to the requirements of International Standard AS/NZS 4801:2001. This safety system covers all operational areas of the organisation.
The system has been audited by Bureau Veritas to the requirements of AS/NZS 4801:2001 on 1st June 2006.
Safety Committees have been established representing management and employee interests at all depots and handle safety matters on a consultative basis at each depot. Issues relating to safety that affect Swan Transit at an organisational level are dealt with at the Safety Committees and submitted for approval at the manager's meeting.

Quality Management System
Swan Transit has established a Quality Management System. The system was originally audited by Bureau Veritas to the requirements of the Quality Standard AS/NZS ISO 9002:1994 on 12th August 1997. Subsequently, the Quality System was audited against AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000 on 18th August 2003. As a consequence, a Certificate of Approval was issued. Swan Transit was re-certified by Bureau Veritas on 8th October 2004 and again on 24th March 2006.
The effective implementation of the Quality Management System is the responsibility of all employees.
The Support Services Manager is the nominated Quality Representative for Swan Transit who has the responsibility for ensuring ongoing compliance with the standard.

Swan Transit has extensive fully equipped maintenance facilities at all its major depots. Staffed by some of Perth's most experienced and competent staff these facilities are supported by a fully equipped machine shop and transmission repair facility. Swan Transit is the only private bus operator in the Perth Metropolitan area to have such specialist facilities. The availability of such facilities results in better quality control, less down time and a better product.
Swan Transit's maintenance sections all hold "Certificates of Programmed Vehicle Maintenance" under "The Western Australian Omnibus Operator Standards Scheme" . This scheme, operated by the Department of Planning and Infrastructure, is designed to ensure the highest standards of vehicle maintenance are maintained.
Workshops, such as the one shown are located at Southern River, Canning Vale,Beckenham, Midvale, Kalamunda, Welshpool, Shenton Park & North Fremantle Depots. The workshops have a total staff of 49.
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)buses operate out of our Southern River and Welshpool Depots. These depots are equipped to conduct a full range of repairs to these vehicles. Our specialist machine shop and transmission repair facility is located at our Canning Vale depot.
Our specialty unit repair facility is also located at our Canning Vale depot and specialises in the of exchange units such as diffs, fan hubs, air valves transmission oil coolers and brake chambers.
Swan Transit also operates fully equipped body repair facilities at all depots. These facilities do everything from minor scratches to full body reconditioning.
