Independent Access Vehicles
Swan Transit purchased Perth's first fully accessible bus in early 1997. The bus a MAN 11.190 ultra low floor city bus, was introduced into the Midland contract area and met with immediate success.
In 1998 Transperth embarked on a program to replace its entire bus fleet with Mercedes 405NH and Mercedes OC 500 LE (CNG) fully accessible vehicles. These vehicles are fully airconditioned and are equipped with an extendable ramp and kneeling technology to make boarding and alighting easier for a wide range of passengers
As vehicles become available they are assigned to select bus routes so that accessibility can be guaranteed. Please contact your nearest Swan Transit depot or the Transperth Information service on 136213.
